Inspired by the 300 Spartan warriors who stood their ground against overwhelming odds at the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.
The Persian army, outnumbering the Spartans 1000 to 1 issue the demand: Lay down your weapons! The Spartan king, Leonidas, retorts with the defiant challenge that would go down in history: Molon Labe - Come and Try to Take Them!
This pendant is entirely handmade here at my workbench from copper and silver. Each single mark and battle-scar are all detailed by hand.
The pendant has hammered sterling silver plinths stamped with the phrase Molon Labe. Note that Labe is spelled using the Lambda symbol from original Greek alphabet, with the upside-down V representing the L sound.
The bail for the dogtag I have made from sterling silver, forged using a hammer on my bench anvil.
The pendant measures approximately 40mm x 15mm.
LEATHER NECKLACE INCLUDED
Included with the tag is one of my handmade fine black 3mm leather necklaces with sterling silver ends and clasp.
I make the necklace 18 inches as standard.
