I was lucky enough to get hold of some bog oak that had been unearthed in Norfolk where my workshop is.
The wood is around 6000 years old. It has been preserved by the nature of the soil in which it was buried. The grain is still visible.
The wood is finished using only wax. The deep dark colour is entirely natural, no stains have been used.
I made the top from pieces of pure silver. They are fastened to the bog oak with silver rivets that I drove all the way through the wood. No glue is allowed in my workshop!
The pendant was made from the beginning with a rough-hewn look being the goal. It took several days to finish. If you want straight edges and soulless machine-made factory jewellery this piece won't appeal.
The pendant measures about 45mm tall, excluding the loop for the chain. It is about 18mm wide.
The pendant comes with my handmade 3mm wide black leather necklace with silver ends and clasp.
I make the necklace 18 inches long as standard. If you want a different length please just mention it in the comments box when you go through the checkout and I will be glad to make the necklace whatever length you require.
I made some blog posts and pictures as I was making this piece. You can read them here:
